Kate Bush- Aerial
Kate Bush hasn't been heard from in 12 years, so to say that her double album was eagerly anticipated by fans is a bit of an understatement. Quoting Kate, "Aerial has been the most difficult album I have ever made, it has straddled nine to ten years, mainly the last five. There were many times when I thought it would never be finished... but now it is and I hope you will enjoy it." Well I certainly am enjoying it- it's classic Kate; extremely personal, unorthodox, organic, challenging and complex. The first track and first single from the album, King of the Mountain, is what I'd like to share with you here. The vocals are powerful and the instrumentation is just perfect. And something about the drum track really hooks me- not only in the way it comes in almost when you least expect it, but also in the sound of the drums themselves- it sounds to me like the engineer was using old-school miking techniques with new school microphones.
